IDA is committed to public oral health because oral health is essential to general health and well- being. Poor oral health, untreated oral diseases and conditions can affect the most basic human needs, including the ability to eat and drink, swallow, maintain proper nutrition, smile and communicate.
IDA's state-of-the-art research process develops and tests dental products and materials that are used in the practice of dentistry and results in a positive experience for the patient. With this perspective, the association has introduced a valuable standard "the IDA Seal of Acceptance" safety-guide for consumer dental care products.
The association also promotes oral health awareness for the public, via its publications dedicated to public health and educational literatures.
IDA organises oral health awareness activities throughout the country. These programmes are primarily about basic oral care techniques, aimed at training school teachers and parents. The association also creates awareness about better oral health care practices among children. This is being done because not many people are aware, that oral health is essential for overall health and well being. IDA aims to educate and motivate the public about prevention and interception of dental and related disorders.
