Scholarship

The Indian Dental Association (IDA) is dedicated to promoting excellence in dental education. Through the IDA Merit Awards, we recognize and reward top-performing BDS students for their exceptional academic achievements. These awards aim to encourage academic excellence and provide recognition to students who demonstrate outstanding performance in their respective BDS academic years.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the IDA Merit Award, students must meet the following criteria:

• Be an undergraduate student enrolled in the BDS program.
• Be an active member of IDA.
• Secure one of the top three ranks in their respective BDS academic year.

Documents Required

• Attested copy of the marksheet.
• A letter from the Dean stating the student’s rank on the College letterhead.
• Candidate Profile Form.
• IDA Membership Card.

Rules and Regulations:

• The award is titled the "IDA Merit Award."
• The top three students in each BDS academic year will receive an e-certificate.
• The awards are open to students in all four years of the BDS program.
• Only IDA members are eligible for the award.
• Students must have passed their exams in the first attempt to be eligible.
• In case no deserving candidates meet the eligibility criteria, the award may not be granted.
• IDA has the final authority on award decisions.
• The e-certificates will be sent directly to the winners' email addresses.

Submission Mode

1. Documents must be submitted via email only.

Process After Submission

• Upon receiving the documents, IDA will verify the student's membership status.
• Once the verification is complete, IDA will process the applications and send out the e-certificates within 15 working days of receiving the application.

IDA & Colgate endeavors to recognize & reward BDS students for their meritorious achievement in academics. The Merit Award is an incentive as well as encouragement to top 3 meritorious students who have achieved highest ranks in each BDS academic year.

IDA concluded a pact with Colgate about 40 years ago to start IDA-Colgate Merit Awards intended to promote the advancement of dental education and clinical research. The purpose of these awards is to support dental students who have demonstrated academic excellence in dentistry.

Eligibility

• Students desirous of getting the Scholarship should be an under graduate student of BDS and, more importantly, an IDA Member.
• Such students should be amongst the first three rank holders in the respective BDS academic years.

Documents Required

• Attested copy of the marksheet.
• Letter from the Dean stating the rank of the student on College letterhead.
• Candidate Profile form.
• IDA Membership Card.

Rules and Regulations:

• This scholarship will be termed as “IDA-Colgate Merit Award”.
• Merit Certificate & a Medal of Honor will be awarded annually to top three student members of IDA securing highest aggregate marks in each Academic year.
• The aforesaid scholarship will be awarded to students of all the four academic years of the BDS course.
• The Merit Award will be awarded to only those Students who are the members of IDA.
• The students who have cleared the academic examination in the first attempt will only be eligible for this award.
• In case, there are no deserving candidates who are eligible according to the mentioned conditions, the award may not be given. IDA & Colgate will have the final authority to decide on the grant of award.
• The successful students will be awarded medals and certificates.

  

  

  

• The awards will be sent directly to a student winner or to the Dean of the college.
• Any violation of the above regulations will automatically disqualify the student.

Date of Submission

1. Documents can be sent to IDA Head Office or Colgate for the current academic year only in the period October-December.
2. No requests will be accepted after December of each year.
3. Students can’t submit documents for the previous year.

Process after submission

• After receiving requests, IDA would verify the membership status of the students.
• Once the verification is done with IDA, Colgate would process the applications.
• Awards would be sent in the month of March
