Dental Practice Accreditation

Accreditation is a tool to measure and improve performance and outcomes. This is the process by which an organisation, service, programme or activity is recognised as having met the defined national requirements and standards. In other words it means a certification of competency, authority, or credibility. Accreditation provides quality and performance assurance for students, owners, managers, staff, funding bodies and consumers.

The not-for-profit Indian Dental Association (IDA), represents dental professionals who share a common commitment to dental excellence and to optimize oral health of all Indians. In dentistry accreditation has special relevance as its dedication and commitment to meet standards that demonstrate a higher level of performance and patient care.

IDA’s accreditation programmes advocate, promote and encourage lifelong learning by enhancing the knowledge and skill of dental professionals in advancing professional development to provide quality treatment and optimal oral health care. IDA’s regulatory mechanisms have evolved over the past 70 years to protect the public and promote patient safety.

The IDA continually reviews and updates its strategic plan to ensure that the association’s policies and programs meet the needs of the profession and the public and serve as the foundation for ongoing efforts in advocacy, access to care and prevention; public protection and professional competency; research, innovation and standards development; and especially for the provision of quality care to individual patients.

  • Quality improvement
