HIV can be transmitted in three ways:
- Sexual transmission.
- Transmission through blood.

HIV transmission can be prevented by spreading awareness about HIV through media
campaigns and education in schools. People with HIV are less likely to transmit
the virus to others if they know they are infected and have received counseling
about safer behaviour. Next key factor for prevention is prompt antiretroviral treatment
which enables people living with HIV to enjoy longer and healthier lives.
