IDA inspires and encourages its student members to achieve par excellence results in academics through scholarships.

IDA Colgate Students Scholarship

There are four scholarships, each awarded annually to students who top the list (aggregate marks) in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year BDS examination, from each college of the regular batch.

IDA is glad to inform you about its initiative of awarding the IDA Student Members for their academic success, in each year of dentistry. Thus, every year, four students from each college would be awarded. The activity acknowledges the efforts and the academic accomplishments of IDA student members. Till date this activity was carried out in around thirty colleges, but from now on IDA has planned to extend this activity to all the dental colleges in the country.

The benefits of the IDA Colgate Scholarship are

• An IDA Colgate Scholar would receive a scholarship grant of Rs. 4000/-.
• A certificate of appreciation.
• The scholarship winners’ names would be published in the “Student Digest” publication of IDA and on the IDA's Website.

Requirements for applying for the IDA Colgate Scholarship

• The applicant should be an IDA Member, without the IDA membership application will not be accepted.
• The first five toppers of the college can apply for the scholarship, so that if the preceding rankers are not IDA Members, the next student can be considered. If the students are annual IDA members, their membership should be annually renewed  in January.
• The student has to be a regular batch student.
• IDA announces four scholarships, awarded annually to students who top the list (aggregate marks) in each academic year of the post graduate dental studies.

Prizes : Award prize Rs.15,000/-.

Venue : At the annual MUHS convocation ceremony.

Online Essay Competition

An intra and inter collegiated online essay competition provides an opportunity for the dental student members from all dental colleges across India to participate at the annual congress of IDA.

Eligibility For Participation

• Prospective candidates should be members of IDA and should contact their branches for details.
• Unlimited entries are welcome.
• The candidate should mail the essay online before the stipulated date.

Rules For Participants

1. The topic will be announced at the event.
2. Two copies of the essay, clearly typed, double spaced and not extending more than 1000 words should be submitted online at the specified e-mail address.

Judging Criteria

Evalution will be based on

• Originality of ideas.
• Scientific contents.
• Technical points.
• Language proficiency.

Rules For Participants

1. The topic will be announced at the event.
2. A group of 4 students are invited to represent their college (in case of large number of entries per college each group is expected to pen down both aspects of the debate and the team with the better data will be shortlisted from the college).
3. Each debate will have a time limit of 60 minutes.

Judging Criteria

1. All the Results will be unbias.
2. The participation of each team member will be taken into account.
3. The scientific basis of the debate data will be counted at a higher scale.

Abstract of the presentation : (not more than 250 words)
Subject :One brief sentence, provide the rational for the topic chosen and/or the question to be answered. This can be with or without short citation(s) to published data that is (are) easily available for reference if necessary.
Result :The results should be in accordance with the topic chosen and summary stated in a maximum of ten sentences.
Conclusion : This is for any conclusion(s) that can be drawn from the presentation. The final statement is crucial, because it supports the scientific value of the paper.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Prospective candidates should be member of IDA and should contact their branches for details.
2. The entries should be posted 2 months prior to the event.
3. The entries will be shortlisted as per the content of the abstract.
   4) The approval letter to the shortlisted candidates will be send via e-mail within next 20 days.
4. Registration fee cheque/DD of Rs. 100 should be posted with the form.

Rules For The Candidates

1. The entries will be judged by the Presentation Award Committee.
2. Each presentation should not extend beyond a time limit of 10 minutes.
3. Each participant should submit 1 soft and 1 hard copy of the presentation.

Judging Criteria

The Committee will consider participants: 50% for verbal presentation and 50% for format of the presentation. The following will be considered:

• Originality and design of the topic;
• Quality of the data;
• Scientific value of the paper;
• Quality of the presentation;
• Oratory skill of the candidate.
